Amelia W.L. Darrow

Amelia W.L. Darrow, an associate attorney at the firm, works with individuals and businesses in the areas of estate planning, elder law, probate administration, real estate, corporations and business law, and intellectual property law.  Her estate planning practice includes Medicaid planning and asset protection. As an intellectual property attorney, Amelia practices copyright and trademark law, including international business development and trade, asset development and management, including work-for-hire contract, technology transfer, and global licensing.

A longtime resident of southern Vermont, Amelia received her juris doctor from Vermont Law School, cum laude. She received her BA in a joint degree from Marlboro College and the School for International Training, graduating with the distinction of Highest Honors. More recently, Amelia interned at the United Nations for a judge at the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in The Hague, The Netherlands. Her work there included issues of international criminal law, international and humanitarian law. Attorney Darrow also has experience with immigration and refugee law.

Amelia honed her business skills early in her career running the daylily farm in South Newfane. Later she managed intellectual property assets, licenses, and copyrights in the entertainment industry, developing music and mobile applications as platforms for branding and marketing. Before law school, she also managed projects under federal and state grants in public health. With a background in both for-profit and not-for-profit businesses, she brings a depth of real-world experience to her law practice.

Amelia is a board member of the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce, the Next Stage Arts Project, and The Gathering Place. She lives in Brattleboro with her two children. She loves cycling, gardening, and travel. She is admitted to practice law in Vermont and Massachusetts.
